Memorial weekend

We had a perfect Memorial Weekend this year!! The weather was beautiful. Hot and sunny it was all weekend long. We were busy bees all weekend as we are trying to finish some of our landscaping that is 3 years overdue. We got a good chuck of it done this weekend. We planted lots of bushes and flowers in the hopes that some of them survive. We also came up with the questionable idea to put in a pond in the front of our house. We were thinking that ponds can't be that hard or too expensive, but as we are finding out we may not be exactly right. I guess we will just have to see how it turns out. :)

The kids had a great time this weekend playing in the pool, have our first campfires in our new fire pit, fishing, and swimming in the lake. Dylann is a little water baby! She could spend all day in her swimsuit laying in the pool playing Littlest Pet Shop. Gage isn't as into the pool as Dylann is, but he loves to be our little helper and he helped us dig many of our holes for our new flowers.

We brought the kids fishing and swimming today with Grandma and Grandpa Kilen and we all had a blast. Dylann actually caught a fish which is rather surprising. She has her own fishing methods and apparently they paid off. She sat on the edge of the dock twirling her fishing pole in the water and she would get mad and start to yell at the fish as they tried to eat her worm. When she caught her fish she didn't know what to think. She couldn't believe she actually got one. Gage was a little disappointed that he didn't get a fish, but soon forgot about it when we went down to the beach to go swimming. He had a blast seeing how deep he could go and running around. Dylann loved swimming in the lake too. She thought that she could go as deep as Gage and didn't care that water was up to her mouth. She has no fear when it comes to water. I'm not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing!

After all of the activity this weekend the kids are completely exhausted and in bed early tonight. Yippee!!

Making marshmallows with Dad.

Yummy!

Silly face.

Dylann thought that she should spread the frosting from her donut all over her arms like lotion instead of eating it. Strange little girl.
Gage and Grandpa with the first catch of the day.
Grandma watching Dylann fish.
Gage and Dad working hard at catching some fish.
Grandpa helping Dylann get a worm on her hook.
Mom helping Dylann reel in her first fish!!!
And here it is!
Pretty little fish!
Dylann had to touch it's tail.
Trying to catch more. Dylann thought that it was easier to fish while laying on her belly.
Gage trying hard to catch something.
Grandpa got another one!

I actually caught a fish!
Gage exhausted after the long weekend.
Dylann stealing strawberries from our strawberry planter.
Here is a video of the kids and a "frog" that they found. Actually it is a toad. It is a little dark, but fun to listen to the kids anyway.

Gage and Dylann are pretending to be super heros and "flying" off the stairs.

Gage's end of the year field trip to Oxbow Park.

This day marks the end of Gage's first year of preschool!! He had a wonderful year and has made some very good friends from the experience. Gage is going to miss his teachers Mrs. Sara and Mrs. Tena, but he is excited to start another year of school when summer is over. Although, when I told him he will start school again when summer is over he says to me "Yeah, and it will be Christmas time!!!!" Well, it will be closer to Christmas anyway.

Gage has made some very good friends this year. He talks a lot about the 2 Emmets that are in his class, Kevin, Lilly (he calls her Willy), Brighton, and Sydney. Gage has a pretty easy time getting along with other kids so it was easy for him to make friends, but he can be a little shy at times so meeting all of these new kids has helped him be a little more assertive.

Gage has learned lots of new things this year including how to write his name, and all of the letters of the alphabet, and number 1-10. He has learned lots of new songs and how to make different colors. It really has been great for him and we LOVE all of the projects that he has brought home throughout the year!

We look forward to another great year for Gage at preschool in the fall. He will be going 3 days a week and 2 of his friends from his class this year will be joining him in the fall which is great!

Here is Gage and his friend Emmett R eating their picnics together.

Kevin, Emmett, and Gage. All three boys will be in the same class in the fall!

They are checking out a hole in the tree. They swore that a bear made the hole and I think they were looking for the bear in the tree.
Is he in there?
Emmett's dad is teaching the boys about helicopters.
And they are off!
The kids are watching the fish swim in the creek below. The fish were actually really big!
